I just spent 17 or so minutes trying to photoshop this picture so that it would look like I was on a wild ride with Barack Obama, because I am high-larious like that. But then, you know what? My expression here is the next best thing to a high-tech collage. Because that's how I feel, that face. I feel just exactly like that, all the time. Although I was a bit disappointed after I heard he was making thank-you calls on Wednesday; I waited by the phone and everything. But still. The bumper cars face.
Anyways, that's not why you're here. You're here for gingerbread, as well you should be. The recipe is here, and you should make it because it's delicious. That's how I feel.

Mmmm.... gingerbread. I know what you mean about the bumper car face. I use the bumper car voice quite a lot.

Can I just say how much I love you? We are completely different political orientations and still I adore everything about you & your sweet family. I've followed your blog(s) for about 5 years now and love them all! I made the granola for family night tonight & I had to stop the girls from gobbling it all. Delish!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling the same way. Almost giddy with relief that the current administration is coming to an end and that the future looks bright. Also, can't wait to make the gingerbread. I've seen it served with lemon ice cream, which I would totally do if I could find some!
ReplyDeleteLast, I just had to tell you I made the granola this morning. It's the best granola I've ever tasted, for sure. Sooooo delicious and I feel so good about eating it!
Everyone in my house is happy too! (and NC went Blue!!) I can't wait to try the gingerbread; my husband actually wants me to make the granola - go figure. I also went to the bookstore to buy a new cookbook and my husband asked if it was by the 'lady online'. I thought that you'd like that. Have you ever made the plum cake with pomegrate? I keep thinking maybe!? Shari

I'm trying to eat healthier, so naturally, I'm going to go make a batch of this RIGHT FRICKIN NOW! It will go perfectly with my afternoon of pretended novel writing, tea drinking and slipper knitting (does someone hear purring?).

ReplyDeleteAs for the tofu, I can't wait to make your recipe. I make it once a week but I just whisk together some sesame oil and some soy sauce with a fork right on a baking sheet. Then I dredge the slices in the mix and bake them in a layer til they're firm/crisp. My 17 month old and 4 year old both love it so if I make your version, I may need to start buying more tofu.

ReplyDeleteI am wearing the same smile, and now I understand why grown ups had pictures of JFK in their homes when I was a child. I have never felt confidence in leadership like this before! And, to top that, made the gingerbread today...fabulous! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just made the gingerbread. It is FREEZING here, and RAINING, and the gingerbread could not have been more perfect for a day like today. My daughter and I had to hurry through the rain to both neighbors' houses to give away a bunch of it before I ate the whole pan myself. Thanks for the recipe, and thanks for the article in O. What a treat to open up my copy and find you there!
