Uncanny resemblance?

I'm just wondering.  Because maybe my Hollywood Squares career is about to take off?

Also, I got named one of Babble's "Zillion Weirdest Mom Bloggers of November/December 2011." Or something like that. But I am in such good company over there that I am secretly thrilled.

xoxo

You shouldn't be secretly thrilled, you should be outwardly thrilled. Top 50? Awesome. The last sentence really sums everything up nicely: "to her readers, Newman and her children almost seem like family members of their own." Yup.

  4. Yup, indeed! Congrats. I'd say you're in the top 3.

And, it all seems to come so naturally. I'm not speaking of the resemblance.

I think I speak for many of your readers, Catherine, when I say that you are my #1 Mom Blog. And have been since the first time I read Bringing Up Ben. Like, 9 years ago. Mazel Tov!

  7. Ah, I am such a nerd. My thoughts after finding you on the list went something like "Well, she's my number one, but I love that she's 42 on here, 'cause in the mama world, if blogs are the Hitchhiker's Guide, then she's definitely the answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything."

    :D

  8. I am totally addicted to the pink slaw from a few posts back! It is beautiful, just as pictured. And tastes divine! Thank you!

  10. "Smart and tender" -- yes, certainly! Very much so. But they forgot to mention "pee-your-pants funny"!
    Still, yay!

  11. Congrats! We always knew you were great...I guess a whole bunch of other people will now too! I reread the Lucky post and was laughing...yesterday it was me in the middle of the Venn diagram for sure!

As my eldest closes in on 11 and middle daughter just turned 8 (not to forgot littlest at almost 3) I do feel like you are a part of my family.

Your writing has always touched me...the good stuff, the bad stuff and the messy stuff is all so effortlessly captured in your words, not in a trite way either. Just real and wonderful and I need you to remind sometimes that THIS is the reward, the journey.

    Thanks Catherine.

I've loved your writing since the Babycenter days. So happy for you.

I have been devouring everything you've ever written in scary stalker fashion ever since a friend sent me the link to your old Babycenter blog and said, "You have to read this woman. She's like a real mom, but also a real writer, and wicked funny!" Indeed, you are. I have about as much interest in food and food products as being struck by a bus, but somehow you even manage to keep my attention while I read recipes that I will never, ever make. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It makes me feel like I'm not alone in mine.

  15. I am munching on some maple rosemary popcorn right now. The irony!
You are definitely my number one.

I too have been reading you since the Babycenter days- and your words mean more to me than almost any "in person" mom friend that I have. Thank you for always making me cry and laugh in the same post (not to mention inspire me to be a better cook!) Love~ Missy

  19. Phyllis Diller has got nothing on you. I mean, look at your snazzy red glasses! :o) Seriously, Catherine, you are #1 in my book. When I sit down to waste time and read blogs, yours is the first I click on!

    Weird in the nicest way!

  21. I'm with Sarah! The only universe in which you are number 42 is Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy. In this one, you are Number 1.

It doesn't surprise me at all. You are truly my favorite blogger, and have been since babycenter, before I knew what a blogger was.
And I noticed that the header to the blog subscription says "this blog is named Catherine Newman." Does that mean I win that contest from back in July? I want a golden nugget!!!
